Best of all, unlike with other publishers, these illustrations are ROYALTY-FREE, which means you will not have to split your book royalties with the artist. Plus, you’ll get the full legal copyright, so the designs will be all yours.

Service Details:

There will be no direct contact with the illustrator/artist. Instead, you will work directly with our Illustration Facilitator mostly via email. The Illustration Facilitator will manage the communications and process between you and the artist. You receive an unlimited, non-exclusive license to use the illustrations produced for publishing/marketing efforts for, and only for, the specific book being published with these illustrations.

Here’s how the illustration process works:

Step 1. We will assign an Illustration Facilitator who will reach out to you about your project.

Step 2. You will need to supply the Illustration Facilitator with very detailed descriptions of each required drawing for your project. Any details omitted by you during this phase will be left up to the artist’s own interpretation and artistic style.

Step 3. Your descriptions for the remaining illustrations should reflect this understanding and be appropriately detailed going forward.

Step 4. When all the artwork for your project is complete, you will receive low-resolution proof images electronically to review and approve. Once the final artwork is approved, you will receive the high-res final images to use for your publishing project. If you chose our Children’s Exclusive package, then illustration is included (good choice). If not, you can save 15% on this price if you plan to publish your book with our Children’s Basic package, so order your Publishing Package first.

In the unlikely event that the artist and author cannot agree on the style, tone, or direction of the custom illustrations after the initial 3 sketches, the Custom Illustration fee is eligible for a refund minus the Cancel Fee. The Cancel Fee varies by style and can be requested by the artist or author at any time prior to and up through the completion of 3 drawings. Once the third initial drawing is completed and approved by the author, the Cancel Fee is no longer available and the Custom Illustration fee becomes non-refundable. Since only three drawings are completed when the Cancel Fee is available, the Cancel fee itself will never exceed 3 times the price of a single drawing from the chosen artist.
