Publishing Breakdown
The Publishing Breakdown
When it comes to publishing a book, there are 3 paths that you can take. You have DIY SELF PUBLISHING, you have TRADITIONAL PUBLISHING, and then you have HYBRID PUBLISHING. The difference is all in the business model. Go through the slides below to see the details about the 3 paths.

An Author-preneurs Must Read
Indie author is a loaded title. It’s more than just writing books and publishing them independently—it’s about embracing the role of an “authorpreneur,” and blending the creative spirit of an author with the strategic thinking of an entrepreneur. Authorpreneurs understand that they are the CEO of their book, an their book success largely depends on THEM. Which is a source of pride but also a significant responsibility.
Check out our blog article below to help yourself adopt that authorpreneur mindset, get a better understanding of how things work, and to avoid some first time author mistakes.
Lack of Diversity in Traditional Publishing

The information was sourced from WorldCat’s global catalog of library collections, and the 5 most prolific publishing houses of the time were Simon & Schuster, Penguin Random House, Doubleday (a major publisher before it merged with Random House in 1998), HarperCollins, and Macmillan.
They were left with a dataset containing 8,004 books written by 4,010 authors. Of those 8,004 books, 7,124 books could be identified by their author’s race. The analysis revealed that 95% of those 7,124 books were written by White Authors. Furthermore, only 11% of the books published in 2018 were written by people of color.
